Document Details : Title: On the Presentation of the Synoptic Accounts of the Monarchies (Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles) Author(s): ZIPOR, Moshe Journal: Ancient Near Eastern Studies Volume: 28 Date: 1990 Pages: 127-135 DOI: 10.2143/ANES.28.0.525715 Abstract : For the student of the OT studying two histories of the monarchy period, namely Samuel/Kings and Chronicles, a synopsis of these texts is an invaluabe tool. This enables the reader to discern easily where one of the two texts is expanded or abridged and where it overlooks or deals with certain information. Furthermore, minor variations in these texts become distinguishable. Now for the first time, the English reader is provided with a book which presents the two texts arranged in parallel columns, enabling him to observe not only the 'major' differences between large textual sections but also differences in phrases and even individual words. |
