Document Details : Title: Fragments of Ps.-John Chrysostom Subtitle: Homily on the Prodigal Son, in Christian Palestinian Aramaic Author(s): BORCK, S.P. Journal: Le Muséon Volume: 112 Issue: 3-4 Date: 1999 Pages: 335-362 DOI: 10.2143/MUS.112.3.519481 Abstract : Amongst the fragments of Christian Palestinian Aramaic (CPA) manuscripts from the ‘New Finds' (discovered in 1975) at the Monastery of St Catherine, Sinai, are six damaged folios containing parts of the Homily on the Prodigal Son (CPG 4577 = PG 59, cols 515-522), which features among the numerous Pseudo-Chrysostomica. The folios are palimpsest, the underwriting containing parts of Luke 9 and 17 in CPA in an archaic hand. Folios 1 and 4, 2 and 3, and 5 and 6 constitute bifolia; between folios 2 and 3 there must be a bifolium (constituting the middle of the quire) missing. Since the text of folio 6 follows on directly from that of folio 5, they must form the central bifolium of a quire; this means that the original manuscript must have consisted of quaternions, and that four folios are lost between folios 4 and 5. |
