Document Details : Title: Gavbandi Cave in Laristan and Indian Inscriptions Author(s): FRYE, Richard N. Journal: Iranica Antiqua Volume: 30 Date: 1995 Pages: 207-216 DOI: 10.2143/IA.30.0.519292 Abstract : In this article, as I had promised my late lamented friend Louis Vanden Berghe, I present a site in Fars province, that province where both he and Klaus worked for many years. Perhaps the site has been described elsewhere but I have not found mention of it in other writings. Because of my miserable photographic abilities, however, I relied upon the much better talents of the McIntire family, especially my former student Emily, who spent several years in the American Peace Corps in Lar in the early seventies. I wish to thank her for the photos and hope they will be of some use for future investigators. Loss of field notes and a failing memory have prevented me from being more detailed in my remarks, but the following should help others who may be interested in this site. I begin with a few remarks about the name Lar. |
