Document Details : Title: Persian Paradise Subtitle: Agricultural Texts in the Fortification Archive Author(s): UCHITEL, Alexander Journal: Iranica Antiqua Volume: 32 Date: 1997 Pages: 137-144 DOI: 10.2143/IA.32.0.519265 Abstract : It is more than a little surprising that such an archive as representative of its kind as the Fortification Archive from Persepolis lacks texts of a cadastral character or those land-surveys which usually constitute an important part of economic archives. Only two texts from Persepolis display certain features common to landsurveys: PFT 1857 and 2032. Both texts were composed for the purpose of inspection and are arranged as inventories3; both specify the exact location of every field (district and village), but lack details such as land measuraments — information essential for any cadastral text. |
