It sought to inspire Christians in the way of perfection, to serve as a guide or navigator through the rough and wild terrain of the world. Today its value in this regard has not diminished though it cannot serve as a prescriptive manual for the modern Christian. Yet, the significance of the Acts of Thomas lies in its call to perfection and its unequivocal demand for a lived faith, indeed, it offers a way of grace, of purity, and of holiness which challenges the modern believer. |
