Document Details : Title: War at Sea in the Second Punic War Author(s): STEINBY, C. Journal: Ancient Society Volume: 34 Date: 2004 Pages: 77-114 DOI: 10.2143/AS.34.0.505236 Abstract : The purpose of this paper is to find out how the Roman and Carthaginian navies worked in the Second Punic War. These navies played an important role, contrary to the traditional opinion of the Second Punic War as a war on land. The author considers the role of the navies in overall startegy on both sides, especially on the Carthaginian, where it has usually been seen as non-existent. |
