Document Details : Title: Hat die spirituelle Exegese eine eigene Methode? Author(s): REISER, M. Journal: Studies in Spirituality Volume: 14 Date: 2004 Pages: 319-333 DOI: 10.2143/SIS.14.0.505200 Abstract : Is there a proper method for spiritual exegesis? Yes, there is: allegory. But this method now is ill-favoured by exegetes because it was based on hermeneutical principles that are out of fashion since the times of enlightenment: the regula fidei and the theory of inspiration. Yet both of them could easily be combined with historical-critical methods. An example (the Cursing of the Fig Tree) shows the possibilities of such a spiritual exegesis in the history of interpretation – not to be dismissed nowadays. |
