Document Details : Title: Dämonen un Engel im Kampf um die Mönche - Die seelsorgliche Spiritualität des Johannes Klimakos Author(s): WIGGERMAN, K.-F. Journal: Studies in Spirituality Volume: 14 Date: 2004 Pages: 93-112 DOI: 10.2143/SIS.14.0.505189 Abstract : The Ladder is a ministerial book for monks who climb the heavenly ladder or who are thrown down by demons. The author of the Ladder, John Climacus, writes in the tradition of Sinaitic monks. Since its appearance the book has had a great influence in the orthodox world until today. The Ladder overcomes the stoical way of thinking. According to John Climacus tears and pastoral work belong together. Tears prove the spiritual struggle with demons. In the end there is God, who is merciful. The vision of God is the culmination of a life directed by God. |
