Document Details : Title: Trends and Developments in the Field of Interreligious Dialogue Author(s): EVERS, G. Journal: Studies in Interreligious Dialogue Volume: 14 Issue: 2 Date: 2004 Pages: 235-250 DOI: 10.2143/SID.14.2.505181 Abstract : The present article gives an overview on initiatives in the field of interreligious dialogue in different countries. The problem of the use of violence in the name of religion has become the major issue between representatives of different religions. As regards the question of Muslim extremism the article highlights the role and influence of Wahhabi Islam from Saudi Arabia which in the past has lent financial support to various radical Muslim groups. Radical Hindu groups, on the other hand, have suffered a set-back in their attempt of realising their project of “Hindutva” in the last Indian parliamentary elections. On the more practical level, the article describes the interreligious co-operation in combating HIV/AIDS and assisting the infected patients. |
