Document Details : Title: The Dialogue Between Islam and Christianity As Viewed by Ibn Arabi and Eckhart Author(s): KAKAIE, G. Journal: Studies in Interreligious Dialogue Volume: 14 Issue: 2 Date: 2004 Pages: 177-201 DOI: 10.2143/SID.14.2.505178 Abstract : This article is concerned with dialogue between religions in general and between Islam and Christianity, as the largest and most popular Abrahamic religions, in particular. It should be noted first that it is not religions that enter into dialogue, but religious people. For, unlike debate, dialogue is aimed at changes that result from attempts to understand one another. It is evident that it is not religions and civilzations that will change but rather religious and civilized people whose understandings of culture and religion will change or evolve and thus pave the way to mutual understanding. |
