Document Details : Title: Some Types of Textual Adaptation in Ezekiel Author(s): ALLEN, L.C. Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 71 Issue: 1 Date: April 1995 Pages: 5-29 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.71.1.504877 Abstract : It has been justly said that in making a textual choice between longer and shorter variants a claim that longer readings are secondary “has to be explained solely in terms of causes objectively demonstrable in the written account itself”. This article endeavours to widen the horizon of such causality by taking seriously four types of textual error to which little or no credit is given in standard discussions of textual criticism. The fourth type relates not to present pluses in the text but to changes which appear to be the result of earlier amplification of the text. |
