Document Details : Title: The Song of Moses (Dt 32) Subtitle: A Structural Analysis Author(s): NIGOSIAN, S.A. Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 72 Issue: 1 Date: April 1996 Pages: 5-22 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.72.1.504853 Abstract : The determination of the literary type of the Song has often been a factor in dating it. Some, having noticed that the Song has a “didactic tone”, correlated it with sapiential literature and roughly characterized this literary movement as late. Others, who saw the poem as “a mixture of elements”, or as a Mischgedicht, tended to suppose that this places the Song at an advanced stage of literary evolution and, likewise, preferred a late date. Others still, who considered the Song a “Messianic poem”, or a “Comfort Song”, or an “Eschatological Song”, or the editorial synthesis of two forms, Preislied and Scheltlied, also proposed a late date. |
