Document Details : Title: The Way, Rootmetaphor for Spirituality - A Biblical Exploration Author(s): WAAIJMAN, Kees Journal: Studies in Spirituality Volume: 13 Date: 2003 Pages: 63-79 DOI: 10.2143/SIS.13.0.504589 Abstract : In this article, the root metaphor of the way (journey) is explored on the basis of Scripture. This way has five dimensions: (1) The course of life itself of a human being, as a direct expression of the divine-human relationship; (2) The way of conversion, thatabandons aversion from God and turns to God; (3) The way of the Torah that acts as a mediator between the divine and the human pole in the divine-human relational process. (4) The way of integrity or wholeness, in which the original, God-given integrity comes to fruition. (5) The way of salvation: from beyond all human ways God comes towards us, in absolute mercy, from the End. |
