Document Details : Title: Grégoire de Nysse, interprète du Psautier: À propos d'une récente édition de texte Author(s): AUWERS, Jean-Marie Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 80 Issue: 1 Date: April 2004 Pages: 174-180 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.80.1.504563 Abstract : In his Treatise on the Inscriptions of the Psalms, Gregory of Nyssa agrees on a Psalter divided in five books, each of them symbolising a step towards beatitude. Recent exegetical works on the Psalter show Gregory’s exegesis to be less artificial than is often argued. The Psalter’s redaction places beatitudes reminiscent of the initial beatitude in Ps 1,1 in a prominent position and matching the doxologies at the end of the various books: the Psalter is a collection of prayers dedicated to God’s glory and the happiness of human persons. |
