Document Details : Title: Die Wahrheit ist wie die Biene Subtitle: Die Wahrheitsmetaphorik des Clemens von Alexandrien Author(s): KLIBENGAJTIS, Tomasz Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 80 Issue: 1 Date: April 2004 Pages: 60-75 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.80.1.504555 Abstract : Clement of Alexandria enshrouds his understanding of truth in various metaphors and images, revealing its nature and attributes. He compares truth to light, the sun, a bee, path, river, racecourse, potion and blood of the Logos. Some metaphors are imbued with attributes of truth as obviousness, ubiquity and universality, others serve to indicate the trials one goes through in acquiring the truth. According to Clement, the whole truth can be found only in and through the Logos – the Incarnated Truth himself. |
