Document Details : Title: The Bedouins of Qatar in the Light of Cultural Interaction Author(s): INGHAM, Bruce Journal: ARAM Periodical Volume: 11 Date: 1999-2000 Pages: 181-188 DOI: 10.2143/ARAM.11.1.504459 Abstract : Our knowledge of the history of Qatar shows that the main population movements of the Qatar Peninsula are similar to those of the rest of Eastern Arabia, namely movements of whole tribes or tribal sections or individual families from Southern and Central Arabia into Qatar with other smaller movements, but often of significant cultural importance, coming down via the sea route from Southern Iraq and Persia. Significant population movement seems to have happened also at different periods between Qatar and Bahrain in both directions. |
