The author shows why some approaches to religion are of no further help to believers or non-believers in thinking about (the rationality of) religion. To reach this goal the author looks at William James' view of religious experience in the light of a more rationalistic view, and a discussion on the rationality of religion in which religious experience appears to be an important topic. With regard to religious experience Keith Yandell's work is referred to, whereas the debate on rationality of religion is represented by the discussion between the Canadian philosophers the atheist Kai Nielsen and the Christian Henk Hart. |
