Document Details : Title: The Concept of Wisdom in the Bible and Qur'ān Subtitle: A Method of Education Author(s): ÖNAL, Mehmet , TOZLU, Necmettin Journal: Studies in Interreligious Dialogue Volume: 13 Issue: 1 Date: 2003 Pages: 106-113 DOI: 10.2143/SID.13.1.504439 Abstract : Both in the study of the Bible and the Qur'ān, neither Christian nor Muslim scholars have arrived at a clear agreement regarding the definition of wisdom. Two main factors underlie this lack of agreement amongst scholars. The first one is that the history of the concept of wisdom carries so many permutations in meaning. The second is the lack of a clear definition of wisdom in the verses of these two scriptures when they speak about wisdom. However, there are certain terms in the Bible and the Qur'ān, which are often linked to the term wisdom. By following these terms one can understand the general meaning of wisdom in both scriptures. The terms are studied in a comparative way. |
