Document Details : Title: Theology, Culture, and Dialogue in a New Millennium Author(s): SCHREITER, Robert J. Journal: Studies in Interreligious Dialogue Volume: 13 Issue: 1 Date: 2003 Pages: 30-40 DOI: 10.2143/SID.13.1.504435 Abstract : In this article the author reflects upon some of the changes in the relationship between theology and culture, which we are now experiencing. It seems that we find ourselves today oscillating between two concepts of culture, 'integrated' and 'globalized' theories of culture, and how these relate to theology. Oscillation is the key word here, for it is not a matter of progressing from one concept to the other; it is a matter, rather, of moving back and forth between the two. First a sketch is drawn of the context in which all this is taking place, namely 'globalization'. With that backdrop, the two concepts of culture and their relation to theology can be seen in higher relief. |
