The author's vantage point is Christian-Muslim relations and interfaith dialogue on ethics in Norway. But here as everywhere, local dialogues are affected by events on the global stage. In this article first some examples are given of how dialogue on communal ethics in Norway has entailed interfaith involvement in global issues. In the second part the author shares some reflections on the notion of 'global ethics' and also presents the notion of 'well-grounded moral disagreement', which is particularly relevant in a Muslim-Christian context. The final part discusses what kind of lessons can be drawn from Muslim and Christian reactions to the dramatic events of 11 September 2001 and its global aftermath. |
