Journal: Journal of Coptic Studies Volume: 3 Date: 2001 Pages: 63-79 DOI: 10.2143/JCS.3.0.503607 Abstract : The Copts of the 13th century became fully integrated into the Arabic culture and generated in that century and the next one a large literary production. In the frame of this intellectual renaissance, one of the fields that especially deserved attention was the study of Coptic, the Copts' national and religious language that was disappearing from current intercourse. The author gives a historical overview of the production of muqaddimāt (Coptic grammars written in Arabic) from the 13th century. |
