In this paper a review of the search for this temple is presented and an archaeological site chosen as a probable place of Ptolemy’s temple of Hercules. It is argued that the identity of the site does not depend on a consideration of cartographic maps alone but on the perception and conceptualisation of space in Antiquity and the Renaissance. |
