Document Details : Title: From Gosan to Ozan Author(s): BASGÖZ, Ilhan Journal: Turcica Volume: 33 Date: 2002 Pages: 229-236 DOI: 10.2143/TURC.33.0.489 Abstract : The word ozan refers to an epic poet and bard who tells stories and sings with accompaniment of a musical instrument. There is no reference to it among the Turks before the XIth century. This paper reviews the researches on the question and concludes that the Turkish word ozan comes from the Iranian gosan, which has more or less the same meaning. |
