Abstract :
Anthropomorphic stone stelae, the first examples of which were found in the pre-Soviet years, stand out among the historical and cultural heritage of the Tavush region. The latest examples of this series were found in 2021-2022 on the territory of the village of Koti. The total number of stelae of the region is about a dozen, which expresses the distinctive expression of the culture of anthropomorphic stelae in this area. Most of the previously discovered stelae from the territory of the region are kept in various museums of Armenia (the History Museum of Armenia, the Museum of Armenian Ethnography, the Museum Department of the Koti village, House of Culture, etc.), and while the rest remain in the field, at the place of discovery or erection. These monuments have long attracted the attention of specialists, but the latest example of musealisation, a private initiative, raises a number of questions, which are examined in the article.
