Document Details : Title: A Reassessment of Selected Urartian Cuneiform Inscriptions on Stone from the Lake Orumiyeh Basin, Iran Author(s): DAN, Roberto , TRÉMOUILLE, Marie-Claude , BONFANTI, Annarita Stefania Journal: Iranica Antiqua Volume: 60 Date: 2025 Pages: 81-115 DOI: 10.2143/IA.60.0.3295693 Abstract : The territory corresponding to modern north-western Iran was permanently occupied for about two centuries by the Kingdom of Urartu during the Middle Iron Age. As in other regions under their control, dozens of Urartian inscriptions have been discovered here, with new ones still being uncovered almost every year. This contribution aims to provide a general overview of the Urartian inscriptions in Iran, with particular attention to recent discoveries, specifically contextualizing six new epigraphs recently found in the region. |
