The impact of the cardinal virtues is also evident in ancient Jewish literature. In relation to the book of Proverbs, which has been translated in a relatively free manner, the question has frequently been posed as to whether, in addition to literary allusions, some form of popular philosophical influence can be identified in the text. The present study explores the question of whether the concept of cardinal virtues, as adopted by popular Stoic philosophy, appears in the work.
