Abstract :
In this article, we first revisit the Husserlian doctrine of the eidos and its centrality in the development of transcendental phenomenology (section 1). Then we develop a criticism to the notion of total purification demanded by this doctrine, based on the notion of apperceptive stipulations operative in fantasy (section 2). Finally, we discuss a very sophisticated attempt to guarantee that pure eide can be achieved, proposed recently by Chin-Yu Lee. We argue that this attempt is not sufficient to show that fantasy could suspend apperceptive stipulations and break the ties to the actual world (sections 3-4).
