L’article rappelle les difficultés historiographiques liées à toute commémoration du passé, en s’arrêtant notamment sur le concept de tradition et la manière dont il a été utilisé au cours du concile. Cette réflexion historiographique justifie le devoir d’une interprétation théologique des décisions du concile, plus particulièrement, de son exposé de foi, avant de revenir sur l’enjeu ecclésiologique de l’unité dans la diversité. The celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea provides an opportunity to reflect on the historical and theological significance of the first ecumenical council. The article recalls the historiographical difficulties associated with any commemoration of the past, focusing on the concept of tradition and how it was used during the council. This historiographical reflection justifies the need for a theological interpretation of the council’s decisions, more specifically its statement of faith, before returning to the ecclesiological issue of unity in diversity. |
