Document Details : Title: Zur datenbankgestützten multikriteriellen Analyse regionaler Variation in dokumentarischen Papyri Subtitle: Das nunmehr älteste Zeugnis für das spätantike Theodosioupolis in der Provinz Arcadia Author(s): STERN, Matthias Journal: Ancient Society Volume: 55 Date: 2025 Pages: 311-335 DOI: 10.2143/AS.55.0.3295051 Abstract : The fragmentary P. Rain. Cent. 97 refers to an unknown location in the 'Theodosiopolite nome', but until now it could not be assigned to either of the two known districts of that name. A combined analysis of the document’s form, orthography, and onomastics, however, shows that the papyrus must originate from the northern Theodosiopolite nome (in the province of Arcadia), making the text the earliest known evidence for this district. The article illustrates how transparent work with online databases such as papyri.info and Trismegistos enables the retraceable analysis and weighting of more specific indicators, thereby facilitating the examination of more detailed research questions. |
