Abstract :
Confronted with several problematical date conversions in the 2017 edition of the Archive of the architects Kleon and Theodoros, the present author felt challenged to reconsider the chronology of each of its 124 pieces. Inaccuracies are frequently due to the early Ptolemaic habit, widespread among Greeks in leading and administrative circles, to combine Egyptian calendar months with Macedonian regnal years, a hybrid practice often insufficiently reckoned with by modern scholarship. Other dates could be simply rectified or slightly adjusted, and correct dates given an endorsing commentary. In each case, the initial (if correct) or revised date has been boldfaced. It was a welcome opportunity to also reassess the chronology of some minor nomarchai of the Arsinoite nome, and of other officials involved in the irrigation and building projects documented by the Archive.
