Document Details : Title: Poetic Clichés in the Ganjes by Mkrtič' Ganjasac' Author(s): KHARATYAN, Ala Journal: Revue des Études Arméniennes Volume: 43 Date: 2025 Pages: 379-394 DOI: 10.2143/REA.43.0.3295030 Abstract : The article aims to explore the schematism and clichés present in the ganjes by Mkrtič‘ Ganjasac‘, who has authored approximately thirty ganjes included in the liturgical Ganjaran Miscellanies, making up a significant part of Grigor Xlat‘ec‘i’s compilation. This phenomenon is examined within the context of theological perceptions, which imposes a fixed poetics tradition aligned with the accepted worldview. This explains the recurring poetic images and expressions among ganj authors. A common linguistic and theological cliché is the apophatic approach – a mode of expression that conveys fear and awe towards the absolute and the uninterpretable – widely used in Christian poetics. Poetic repetition is considered as a tactic that aimed to continually reinforce religious identities and perceptions among the public audience. |
