Document Details : Title: L'amour-eros Subtitle: Une approche phénoménologique Author(s): ROMANO, Claude Journal: Etudes phénoménologiques - Phenomenological Studies Volume: 10 Date: 2026 Pages: 155-178 DOI: 10.2143/EPH.10.0.3295011 Abstract : This text takes a phenomenological approach to several fundamental questions about love-eros: is it a form of desire? a form of attention? a will? a feeling? Is it rather an attitude towards its object that could be described as an existential? Love-eros needs to be understood in terms of Heideggerian concern (Sorge), but as a phenomenon that calls into question the self-centredness of concern, or what Heidegger calls the 'tautological' character of the expression 'self-concern'. It also asserts that concern for the other is insufficient to understand love and must be supplied by two other existentials (or para-existentials): the being-carried (Getragenheit) and trust without preconditions thematized by Oskar Becker and the letting-be of the other that renounces power over the other. Finally, it proposes to approach the phenomenon of love as an experience sui generis. |
