The present note examines the question, starting with the reception history of the text in the medieval Latin West, where Lysanias was considered a son of Herod the Great. The roots of this idea are explored and traced back through a chain of tradents to expose its impressive antiquity. While this solution is not in the end endorsed, the study does arrive at an original proposal to make sense of the available data. Les commentateurs ont eu du mal à expliquer la mention de Lysanias par Luc en Lc 3,1. La présente note examine cette question, en commençant par l’histoire de la réception du texte dans l’Occident latin médiéval, où Lysanias était considéré comme un fils d’Hérode le Grand. Les racines de cette idée sont explorées et retracées à travers une chaîne de transmetteurs afin de mettre en évidence son impressionnante ancienneté. Bien que cette solution ne soit finalement pas retenue, l’étude aboutit à une proposition originale pour donner un sens aux données disponibles. |
