Document Details : Title: Creator and Reviver of the Dead Subtitle: Second Temple Traditions in Dialogue Author(s): VILARROIG MARTÍN, Cristóbal Journal: Revue Biblique Volume: 133 Issue: 1 Date: 2026 Pages: 45-64 DOI: 10.2143/RBI.133.1.3294980 Abstract : Faith in a powerful God who creates the world and revives the dead is one of the fundamental axioms of the Jewish faith, and it is echoed in the first benedictions of the daily prayer (Amidah) at least since the first century. The conceptual and verbal similarities between 2 Macc 7 and one of the oldest known recensions of the Amidah (in Greek) indicate that the origin of this conviction goes back at least to the second century BC. The repeated connexion of these same formulas and concepts in different Jewish corpora of the first century AD – particularly in the NT – indicates that, at that time, it was already part of the collective commonplace in a wide range of the Jewish world. La foi en un Dieu puissant qui crée le monde et ressuscite les morts est l’un des axiomes fondamentaux de la foi juive, et elle se retrouve dans les premières bénédictions de la prière quotidienne (Amidah) au moins depuis le premier siècle de notre ère. Les similitudes conceptuelles et verbales entre 2 M 7 et l’une des plus anciennes recensions connues de l’Amidah (en grec) indiquent que l’origine de cette conviction remonte au moins au deuxième siècle av. J.-C. La répétition de ces mêmes formules et concepts dans différents corpus juifs du premier siècle ap. J.-C. ‒ particulièrement dans le Nouveau Testament ‒ indique qu’à cette époque, c’était déjà collectivement une idée courante dans un large éventail du monde juif. |
