Abstract :
In this study, we examine the biblical text used and interpreted in the ‘short text’ of the Synopsis, which we consider to be the original. Our objective was to verify the Antiochian origin of this work and possibly its Chrysostomian authorship. Analysis of the exegetical passages contained in the notes on the Pentateuch showed a definite link with interpretations attested in Antioch between the 4th and 5th centuries. Consistent with these results, the biblical text underlying the summary on the Judges shows clear links with the Antiochian text. Thus, with regard to the Octateuch, the biblical data confirm the Antiochian origin of the Synopsis, as suggested by its attribution to John Chrysostom. However, no specific link between this text and the Antiochian Father could be established for the summaries studied here.
