Edición crítica Author(s): LÓPEZ ZAMORA, Jesús Journal: Humanistica Lovaniensia Volume: 74 Date: 2025 Pages: 1-80 DOI: 10.2143/HLO.74.0.3294845 Abstract : Born from the poetic genius of the Lombard Bonino Mombrizio, the Theogonia, published in 1474, completes the humanist task of translating Hesiod begun in 1471 with Niccolò Della Valle’s Opera et dies. In the last decades of the fifteenth century, this translation allowed learned readers full Latin access to Hesiod’s carmina maiora. The present study offers the first critical edition of Mombrizio’s translation, after the recensio and collatio of the preserved testimonies, all part of a tradition that began with the first manuscript copy (ca. 1464-1467) and ended in the first decades of the seventeenth century. |
