Il a pour objet de dresser autant que possible un portrait général de la pratique de la théologie dans ce qui est actuellement l’une des nations chrétiennes les plus importantes d’Afrique et du monde. Pour ce faire, j’examinerai trois questions: a) Aujourd’hui, où peut-on trouver les lieux où la discipline théologique est prise au sérieux au Nigeria? b) Quelles sont les écoles de pensée théologique présentes au Nigeria, et cela en tenant compte de contributions de théologiens de la diaspora qui répondent aux questions nigérianes et africaines? c) Quelles sont les productions théologiques spécialisées que l’on peut trouver aujourd’hui au Nigeria? La réponse à ces questions mettra en évidence une orientation catholique même si le paysage théologique oecuménique sera également considéré. Enfin, cet article présente certains des défis auxquels la théologie sera confrontée à l’avenir au Nigeria. The article explores the theological landscape of Nigeria in a descriptive form. The objective is to provide as much as possible an overall picture of the praxis of theology within what is one of the most consequential Christian nations in Africa and the world today. In doing this, I shall examine three questions: a) Where can one find the discipline of theology taken seriously in Nigeria today? b) What are the theological schools of thought that exist in Nigeria? This would also consider the contributions of diaspora theologians who respond to the Nigerian/African questions. c) What are some of the scholarly theological outputs that one can find in Nigeria today? The response to these will point to a Catholic bias, nonetheless the ecumenical theological landscape will equally be considered. Finally, the article presents some of the challenges that confront the future of theology in Nigeria. |
