La correspondance échangée entre Maurice Courant et Victor Collin de Plancy et la préface de la Bibliographie signalent toutes deux combien cette oeuvre doit au second. En effet, Victor Collin est crédité de l’idée première de la Bibliographie et a collaboré à environ un tiers du premier volume… Pourtant, seul Maurice Courant a signé cette oeuvre magistrale. D’où vient cette pudeur de Collin de Plancy? D’autre part, une étrangeté a durablement intrigué les chercheurs coréens qui se sont intéressés à la structure de la Bibliographie coréenne. Celle-ci ne respecte pas l’organisation traditionnelle des catalogues bibliographiques «à la chinoise», qui suivaient le système du kyŏngsajajip, lequel rangeait à la suite les classiques, les livres des maîtres, les ouvrages d’histoire et enfin les recueils. L’examen des passions de jeunesse de Collin, sa longue fréquentation des catalogues et des inventaires, scientifiques ou littéraires, permettent de résoudre partiellement la question des origines de la Bibliographie coréenne. Maurice Courant’s Bibliographie coréenne has been an essential reference in the field of ancient Korean books for more than 100 years. It still contains many mysteries. The letters exchanged between Maurice Courant and Victor Collin de Plancy and the foreword to the Bibliographie both indicate how much this work owes to the latter. Collin is indeed credited with the first idea of the Bibliographie and collaborated on about a third of the first volume… However, only Maurice Courant signed this master ful work. Why this modesty of Collin de Plancy? On the other hand, a strangeness has long intrigued Korean researchers who have been interested in the organization of the Bibliographie coréenne. This does not respect the traditional organization of 'Chinese-style' bibliographic catalogs, which followed the kyŏngsajajip system, which arranged the classics, the masters’ books, the history works and finally the collections. The examination of Collin’s youthful passions, his long frequentation of catalogs and inventories, scientific or librarianship, make it possible to partially resolve the question of the origins of the Bibliographie coréenne. |
