L’articolo esamina il contesto in cui l’autore formula i suoi giudizi sull’argomento e l’evoluzione della visione di Roma nella successione delle sue opere; analizza inoltre gli strumenti stilistici con cui Liutprando presenta la realtà romana dell’epoca, particolarmente efficaci e in grado di veicolare per secoli un’immagine negativa della città. Liutprand of Cremona, with his works, contributed profoundly to the myth of ‘Black Rome’ in the tenth century. The article examines the context in which the author formulates his judgments on Rome, and the evolution of the vision of the city in the succession of his works. It also analyzes the stylistic tools which Liutprand makes use of in introducing the Roman situation of the time, very effective and able to convey for centuries a negative image of the city. |
