This concise review article will focus on some aspects, such as the role of the performers of those practices and their relationship with the deities involved in the removal of impurity. It will also discuss the term ešḫar, 'blood' and 'bloodshed' in the lists of calamities of purification rituals, where it appears to be used to include all possible reasons of pollution that may affect the patient, whether a human being, a deity, or a place. |
