Document Details : Title: Swansong Subtitle: David in Ezekiel Author(s): LUST, Johan Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 100 Issue: 3-4 Date: 2024 Pages: 427-433 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.100.3.3293820 Abstract : In Ezekiel’s visionary perspective (both in M and in G*), David is still to come. He is a messianic figure of the future. Yet, the description of his function in M is notably different from that in G*. In M he is the leader of Israel’s army in the final battle against Gog, without adding any details about his role. In G* he is appointed as Israel’s leader after that battle. The longer text (M) is probably the more developed and more recent one as shown. |
