Abstract :
This essay will attempt to analyze the various roles Sartre held as writer-public intellectual, political intellectual, and philosopher. The goal is to identify the narratives and messages associated with them. These messages were conveyed through various channels, from lectures and books to theater, film, and interviews in various types of mass media. The public on the receiving end could be the general intellectual public, but also specific circles, such as young people, writers, artists, and members of minority groups. An overview of the main countries of reception of Sartre’s thought is given. Last but not least, the reception process includes not only messages that were successfully received, but also those that were not received or only in a distorted form.
