Document Details : Title: Titus Brandsma and Thérèse of Lisieux Subtitle: Some Biographical and Spiritual Convergences Author(s): MILLÁN ROMERAL, Fernando Journal: Studies in Spirituality Volume: 33 Date: 2024 Pages: 251-276 DOI: 10.2143/SIS.33.0.3293665 Abstract : Titus Brandsma, Carmelite, writer, translator and professor at the Catholic University of Nijmegen, stood out for his studies in the history of mysticism: Devotio Moderna, Teresa of Avila, Johannes Brugmann, etc., but he also knew the writings of Teresa of Lisieux and synthesized his doctrine in some articles. Furthermore, between both biographies and spiritual profiles, there are a series of curious convergences that (despite the great differences between both) make them closer than one might initially think: An intense experience of the familiar, sense of humor, missionary sensibility and centrality of love, among others. |
