Mulla Sadra and John Hick are philosophers who have pondered on this topic and, have considered humans as a unified physical-spiritual entity that will continue its existence perpetually after death. However, these two philosophers differ in their opinions regarding the true essence that enables the immortality of humans. Despite the numerous questions that people have about life after death, a comparative analysis of the perspectives of Mulla Sadra and John Hick on this matter can provide answers to many of the questions in this regard. In this article, using the descriptive-analytical method, we conclude that Mulla Sadra believes that the human soul, due to its potential abilities to ascend various levels, is the agent of human immortality, while John Hick regards the body as imperishable due to its inherent qualities. However, what is certain for both authors is the infinite quest for human immortality in another realm. |
