Document Details : Title: Wer zum Teufel ist Marim? Subtitle: Überlegungen zum rätselhaften Proömium der Zweiten Apokalypse des Jakobus (NCH V,4) Author(s): PLISCH, Uwe-Karsten Journal: Journal of Coptic Studies Volume: 26 Date: 2024 Pages: 167-174 DOI: 10.2143/JCS.26.0.3293457 Abstract : The article deals with the textual problems in the proemium of the Second Apocalypse of James, in particular the enigmatic figure of 'Marim'. With reference to the Naassener passage in Hippolyte’s refutatio, 'Marim' is interpreted here as a (deliberate or inadvertent) misspelling of the name Mary. The guarantor of tradition in the Second Apocalypse of James is therefore a well-known female figure from the early Christian tradition and not an unknown male figure. |
