Document Details : Title: Een verzamelcodex in stukken Subtitle: Antwerpen, Ruusbroecgenootschap, Neerl. 315 Author(s): SLEIDERINK, Remco Journal: Ons Geestelijk Erf Volume: 93 Issue: 3-4 Date: 2023 Pages: 293-311 DOI: 10.2143/OGE.93.3.3293333 Abstract : This article presents an exploration of a fragmentary parchment manuscript recently acquired by Antwerp University Library (Ruusbroec Instititute, Neerl. 315). The codex currently consists of 61 leaves, dates from the first half of the fifteenth century, and appears to have been written in a Limburgish dialect. Its contents include Sint Patricius’ vagevuur (the 1387 prose translation of Purgatorium Sancti Patricii), a treatise on the Ten Commandments (from the circle of Geert Grote), and three excerpts from Orloy der ewigher wijsheit (the Dutch translation of Henry Suso’s Horologium sapientiae). On the basis of this content, the article presents the hypothesis that the manuscript was created within a community of religious women. |
