Document Details : Title: Tapetenmuster nella pittura parietale vesuviana Author(s): KASZUBSKA, Dominika W. Journal: BABESCH Volume: 99 Date: 2024 Pages: 179-191 DOI: 10.2143/BAB.99.0.3293144 Abstract : The paper offers an analysis of the so-called Tapetenmuster based on evidence coming from the Vesuvian region. Tapetenmuster are repetitive patterns, made up of geometric, floral or other ornamental elements, and make their appearance during the Neronian period. This typology of wall painting is analyzed not only in its formal, iconographic, and stylistic features but also as an element that interacts with the surrounding environment and space. Furthermore, additional focus is also put on the interplay between these motives and other decorative elements common during the Neronian and Flavian period. |
