Abstract :
It is not a question here of identifying elements that could shed light on the biblical narrative, nor of rereading the stories of Moses written in Greek and Latin from the point of view of anti-Judaic propaganda. Another perspective is chosen, that of the history of religions. The Exodus was indeed an important element in the construction of a comparative history of religions from Antiquity until at least the 17th century. By directing our attention to the intertextual interplay of reactions and counter-reactions, a game attested even in India and in Chinese documents, we hope to show how the mosaic exit from Egypt has been rewritten in terms of political theology.
