Document Details : Title: Urartian Potters' Marks from Aramus Fortress Author(s): HEINSCH, Sandra , KUNTNER, Walter Journal: Iranica Antiqua Volume: 58 Date: 2023 Pages: 97-129 DOI: 10.2143/IA.58.0.3292994 Abstract : Potters’ marks have been a much-discussed topic since their first detection in Urartian sites. As part of Urartian culture, the discussion of their meanings has been the focus of interest so far. Long-term investigations at the Aramus Fortress confirm their use in the Urartian period and, based on the stratigraphic results, suggest a typo-chronological sequence of pot marks. Considering the inaccuracy of radiocarbon dating for this period, the new evidence improves the chronological classification of Middle Iron Age sites. |
