Document Details : Title: Shahr-i Sokhta New Revised Sequence Author(s): ASCALONE, Enrico , VECCHIO, Pierfrancesco Journal: Iranica Antiqua Volume: 58 Date: 2023 Pages: 1-52 DOI: 10.2143/IA.58.0.3292992 Abstract : Recent research in Shahr-i Sokhta has changed our knowledge of Sistan’s main settlement. Archaeological excavations, together with palaeobotanical, archaeozoological, anthropological, topographical and laboratory analyses, have helped rewrite the history of eastern Iran. Specifically, 14C dating of material from archaeological contexts has made it possible to reconstruct the chronological sequences of the site, which is believed now to have arisen around 3550 BC and finally collapsed around 2300 BC, with subsequent sporadic occupation between 2100 and 2000 BC. |
